Event date: 10 July 2010 - 09:30 - 16:00

Type: Festival / Fun Day

Organiser: Band Ltd

Venue: Bristol Brunel Academy

Age range: 11 to 19

Postcode: BS15 1NU

Description:

Drama: ‘Willing to Play’. Explore simple games and activities in a fun session that can be built upon by the playworkers. We will work with themes and ideas using story in an experiential and interactive way; dressing up, creating the environment and entering into the action. Participants will go away with new ideas and techniques for their ‘tool bag’ without the pressure of feeling ‘put on the spot’ during the session.

Music: Games and activities celebrating music from around the Globe. We will show you simple techniques for getting children singing, making sounds and rhythms which are fun and easy to recreate for even the most tone deaf play worker! Participants will also have the chance to try out the Global Play toolkit developed as part of our playful ideas project.

Dance:
Dance is a great way to get your children moving, working together and being creative. This introductory session is led by tutors who run the city's ReStaged youth dance programme and have many years' experience in community settings. Led in a fun and friendly style, the session will cover dance games, partner work, dance drills, web resources, improvisation and basic choreography, along with time for you to ask any questions specific to your setting.

Green Arts: A range of creative ideas for children, which will enhance the potential for a broad range of play types within your setting. The activities will include; making your own spin painting machine, building large cardboard box cities, how to make top grade hula hoops from scrap and giant drawing machines.
