There’s still time to enter the Lord Mayor’s painting competition - Closing date March 31, 2010.
You’ve still got time to paint, draw or colour your favourite image of what you love about England as part of local celebrations in Bristol marking St George’s Day.
The painting competition is open to anyone aged under 18 and the closing date for entries is Wednesday, March 31.
The winning pictures will be unveiled at the Mansion House on St George’s Day, April 23, and later put on display in Bristol’s City Museum and Art Gallery. Winners will also receive gift vouchers to spend locally, thanks to generous support from the Guild of Guardians.
“What I love about England painting competition gives young people the chance to paint, draw or colour their favourite things about living and growing up in England,” says Councillor Christopher Davies. ‘Pictures could feature mythical tales, kings, queens & castles; playing cricket, football or other sports; the seaside; the countryside, your home, street or school; special buildings, fashion or even food.
“I hope children and young people from across the city will enter this competition. I know we have many talented artists in our schools and communities - and this is their chance to creatively express their love of England.”
Entries should be no bigger than A3 size and can be handed in to any Bristol library or the City Museum and Art Gallery.
Anyone submitting a picture should attach their name, address, contact telephone number and age on March 31 to the back of the picture.
