LAWRENCE WESTON
Lawrence Weston ("L.Dubbz") is some 7 miles away from the city centre. The busiest area is the Ridingleaze area where most of the local shops are. Lawrence Weston is well known for its vibrant facilities for young people. Lawrence Weston Youth Centre and Avon Club for Young People are the two Youth Centres there. L.Dubbz also have a BMX track, their very own young people's juice and smoothie bar called Juicy Blitz and a Youth Inclusion Project.
AVONMOUTH
Avonmouth is at the mouth of the River Avon. It is the location of two large ports called Avonmouth Docks and The Royal Portbury Dock. Avonmouth is home to many industries including chemical manufacturing plants and a gas fired power station. Avonmouth is sometimes regarded as a satellite town of Bristol as opposed to a suburb. It is a very isolated community and can often be forgotten about. Avonmouth has a small Bristol City Council youth provision based in the community centre.
SEA MILLS
Sea Mills has a voluntary sector run youth centre called Sea Mills Boys and Girls club and two local faith based youth groups. In 2006, the Portway Rugby Development Centre opened in the area. The facilities it has are two outdoor 3G Crumb pitches suitable for Rugby and Football, outdoor grass Rugby pitches, two meeting rooms and they host many aerobics classes there.
SHIREHAMPTON
Shirehampton has no City Council funded youth provision. In 2000 a full time youth centre (Groveleaze) was cut as Shirehampton was identified at the time as a low priority. Avon Youth Association deliver a youth bus session on the high street on Thursdays.
Shirehampton is well provided with churches, schools, sporting facilities and shops. It has a number of fine public open spaces and interesting ancient landmarks nearby. These include Kingsweston Roman Villa (whose ruins are visible by the roadside in the modern suburb of Lawrence Weston), Blaise Castle Estate, and Blaise Castle House Museum, in addition to Shirehampton Park which is now used as a golf course.
