Central Bristol details

The city centre of Bristol has a very lively atmosphere. With a recently built Shopping Centre there is always something going on. The recently built Cabot Circus was built at a cost of £500 milliion. Its centre piece is a glass roof equal to the size of one and a half football pitches and the steel reinforcements used in construction could stretch from England to South Africa!

The shopping centre brought over 120 new shops to Bristol and has already been awarded the Best Shopping Centre of 2008 at the prestigious MAPIC EG Retail Awards.

The City Centre area has the spread of The Clifton Downs, with views across the Suspension Bridge and lots of green open space for informal and organised sports events, including the huge bonfire night firework display and a range of other fairs, circus's and shows.

The city centre has a lively tourist trade and lots of cafés and open space around the Cathedral and Waterfront.  It is home to Bristol's biggest attractions including @Bristol, Bristol Ice Rink, The Hippodrome, The Colston Hall and  Watershed. Some large public sector buildings are based there, including Bristol City Council, The Central Library and Connexions West of England.
